This ‘Sculptural Twist’ three-seater bench is designed by blending digital technology with fine traditional craftsmanship. It is part of Carol Egan’s line of contemporary furniture whose timeless elegance has become iconic. Carved in walnut, the bench features six crisscrossing buttresses, which, twisting 180 degrees from top to bottom, perform the impossible and the unimagined. Obsessed with the curvaceous, focused on manipulating wood and bronze into unexpected and unique forms, Carol Egan breathes life into materials that are typically heavy and rigid with her light and inspired revelations of line. A Special Mention as best contemporary piece was attributed to her by the PAD London jury in 2015 for her floor console and X benches presented by Galerie BSL.
