“When Béatrice Saint-Laurent, founder of Galerie BSL, and Benoît Duvignacq, an art direction consultant, discovered Badara Ndiaye’s world through Madame Bleue, a talent scout in art and design, he seemed an obvious choice. His work is instantly recognisable, with recycling as a founding gesture. ‘He can make something out of nothing,’ they say admiringly. This approach naturally resonates with the gallery’s identity — built on the crossover between contemporary art and collectible design — and led it to devote an exhibition to him, In Transit Focus: Badara Ndiaye.
Born in Senegal in 1984, Badara Ndiaye first pursued a career as a professional basketball player in the United States, which was abruptly cut short by an injury. That rupture opened up a new field of exploration: marketing, then fashion, which he approached as a language and a space for experimentation in Miami and Milan, at the dawn of Instagram.”
