Hardly has Fashion Week ended when other highlights of the Parisian cultural calendar are already announced. New events, in fact, some just inaugurated last year and already internationally essential. Such is the case of Design Miami.Paris, from October 16 to 20, within the walls of the Hôtel de Maisons – an 18th-century townhouse on the Left Bank that was long the residence of Karl Lagerfeld.
The event, held at the same time as its big sister Art Basel Paris – dedicated to contemporary art – benefits from the presence in the capital of major collectors from the four corners of the world.
Design Miami.Paris managed to seduce them from its very first edition thanks to its offering that blends 20th-century antiques with resolutely arty Collectible Design pieces presented by the best galleries. This sharp selection perfectly matches the tastes and expectations of today’s fortunes, fond of sculptural furniture, not necessarily functional, but echoing the modernity of the canvases hung on the walls of their villas and other riads.
