“It was the trees that immediately won us over,” smiles interior designer Helena Monnet-Plat. The two hectares surrounding this 1980s pavilion, located between Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon, are filled with century-old oaks and pines. A wonderful playground for her two young sons and three dogs.

The house itself had neither charm nor style, but Helena and her entrepreneur husband didn’t mind. On the contrary, they enjoy buying properties to transform them: this is their fourth project. “Since we weren’t allowed to demolish the building, we completely remodeled it in the style of a Provençal bastide with a triple génoise (three rows of tiles forming a cornice under the roof) and window frames in natural stone.” But inside, Helena only kept the Provençal codes in the terracotta floor and the red onyx of the kitchen.

Everywhere else, she chose the softness of a light green palette and rounded shapes, like the large arched windows in the living room, the spiral staircase, but also the wave-shaped backrest of the living room sofa, the legs of the dining room table and chairs, etc. “I like to feel wrapped in, and I’m not afraid of maximalism, as evidenced by the 3-meter-long sofa or the 6-meter rug.” Her personal recipe for well-being.
