‘XiangSheng II' Side Table is a collectible design work that combines champagne colored brushed bronze surface and oxidized bronze with an intense brown patina. This elegant table is part of the ‘XiangSheng’ furniture collection by much acclaimed duo Studio MVW, founded in Shanghai by Chinese designer Xu Ming and French architect Virginie Moriette. Known for its sculptural, architectural forms and ability to subtly connect contemporary Western and Eastern aesthetics, Studio MVW has won numerous awards in Asia and Europe, including the Architectural Digest AD 100 Design Talents Award (2017, 2015 and 2013) and the Wallpaper* Design Award (2018, 2014).

At the heart of ‘XiangSheng’ is an exploration into how solid and void can join in perfect unity to become functional, useful, and inspirational. In the West, a solid object is seen in terms of material and form and admired for that. In the East, the concept of the void is meaningful, and can be traced back to Taoist philosophy to represent the spirit empty of thought, a quiet, patient place from which the subliminal can flow.
