Samuel Accoceberry

Biography

Samuel Accoceberry develops a practice at the intersection of design, sculpture and architecture, in which drawing is asserted as a tool for thought and composition. Rejecting any form of formal excess, he favors a refined and graphic language in which material—its nature and internal tensions—becomes the driving force of form. His work gives rise to objects conceived as spatial and perceptual experiences.

Holding a master’s degree in design from the École nationale supérieure d’art de Nancy and trained at the Raymond Loewy School in industrial aesthetics, Samuel Accoceberry first collaborated for ten years with leading design studios in France and Italy.

In 2010, he founded his own studio, through which he has developed a transversal practice, working both as a designer and an artistic director for numerous companies and institutions. His approach was recognized as early as 2013 with the Grand Prix de la Création of the City of Paris. He has also received several international distinctions, including three Red Dot Design Awards.

At the core of his practice lies a strong commitment to craftsmanship, an exacting attention to quality of execution, and a concern for the human dimension of the creative process, whether through collaborations with artisanal workshops or industrial partners. He conceives creation as an open and interdisciplinary field, working across furniture, industrial and urban design, lighting, spatial design, scenography, artistic direction, and limited-edition design.

His creations are characterized by a refined and elegant formal language, supported by a strong graphic dimension. The intrinsic qualities of materials are explored through forms that are both free and controlled, balancing architectural rigor with plastic sensitivity. This is exemplified in his mirror sculptures, conceived as homages to the utopian visions of Superstudio, whose stellar forms unfold into three-dimensional structures. These neo-futurist micro-architectures—both reflective and immersive—create a tension between assertive geometries and the vibrant surface of polished mirror steel, treated as a true material of light.

Samuel Accoceberry’s work has been exhibited at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris and presented in numerous other institutions, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Musée de la Céramique in Vallauris, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, and the Design Museum in Holon, Israel. A selection of his works has entered the collections of the Mobilier national.

Born in Bordeaux in 1972, Samuel Accoceberry graduated in 2000 from the École nationale supérieure d’art de Nancy (DNSEP, master’s degree in design), then trained at the Raymond Loewy School in industrial aesthetics. He lives and works between Paris and Biarritz.
