This work by Jimmy Delatour reveals a hybrid temporality — at once ancient, present, and imaginary. It includes coins modeled after those of ancient Pompeii, photographs (one of which, digitally reworked by hand, incorporates the Pompeii-x console designed by the artist), and a small book: Marinetti’s Manifesto of Futurism from the early 20th century, bound in embossed leather. By bringing these objects together — and particularly by integrating his design piece into the photographic space — Jimmy Delatour erases the boundary between ruins and contemporary creation, inventing the fictional relic of a world in suspension. In doing so, he also questions the memory of forms, the fragility of civilizations, and the narratives we choose to pass on.
