‘BlooMing’ is the tale of a Chinese “blue and white” icon that crossed centuries and frontiers. Born during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the Ming vase finds new garments and functionalities under Studio MVW’s creative impulse. With its new deep blue lacquered dress, this ancestral traditional form opens up, literally blooming and transforming itself into a cabinet, a console, a floor lamp or a suspended light, revealing immaculate white secret receptacles. The elegance of the straight lines anodized in polished and brushed brass finishes meets the softness of curves; the precious, daring aesthetics fits contemporary customs. With ‘BlooMing’, Studio MVW asserts once again their talent in questioning the memory of forms and materials and overcoming them in a truly contemporary cross-cultural approach of East and West.
